Learn why smoothies are important. However, I believe that eating delicious ripe sweet fruits helps in achieving our optimum health. Please learn more from Gaurav Goyal and his group Eat Fruits and Heal. The conversation is usually in Hindi and here’s a simple explanation that Gaurav Goyal shares. You can also check their English FAQs and Hindi FAQs to learn more about eating fruits as a species specific diet.
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is important for anyone with diabetes, hypertension or other lifestyle disease to check their sugar and blood pressure levels or other relevant parameters every day when they start having a green smoothie, as it naturally heals the body and the medication will need to be reduced under the supervision of their medical doctor.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas, peeled, frozen and chopped
- 1 apple/pear/mango or ½ a pineapple
- ⅓ cup greens
- ¼ cup water
Method
In a blender, blend bananas and other fruits with 1 tbsp of water for a few seconds. Then, add the greens and remaining water (or ice-cubes) and blend until it is a smooth green drink. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
Note: It is advised not to use spinach every day. The oxalate present in it may prevent the absorption of certain nutrients and could become problematic.
Greens that you can use are any that you make a sabji with including shepu (dill), methi (fenugreek), spring onion, amaranth, mustard greens, chavli, ambat chuka, kale, lettuce, etc. Add a de-seeded date or two, the juice of a lime, cinnamon powder, etc to flavor it to taste it the way you like it. Go ahead and enjoy experimenting!
This is a Whole-Food Plant-Based (WFPB) recipe!
