We’re so happy to have you visit our site because we truly feel that at a time like this when the Corona virus has come back to haunt us, we need to know the role diet plays. So, what’s the connection? It’s simple: you won’t suffer and will recover better if you have a strong immune system. Unfortunately, the larger population suffers from “lifestyle” diseases like diabetes, hypertension, heart problems, kidney issues, autoimmune diseases, have survived a stroke, etc or even cancer. All these health issues compromise the immune system, or in other words make the immune system deficient and recovery can be a real challenge. Moreover, the immune system gets affected even if one doesn’t suffer from any of these but one is eating food that is taxing the body to overwork.
The body is always healing and it can work in an optimal condition only if it gets the right fuel. When it doesn’t, it overworks, leading to chronic lifestyle diseases and it ultimately gives up. How then can we change that? Well, the answer is to get rid of the cause of these diseases or at least get them to improve as much as possible by replacing the wrong fuel with the nutrient dense one. But is that possible when doctors tell us that we have to be on medication for the rest of our lives? True, that’s what we’ve been made to believe. But in fact, medicines tax the body, especially the liver and kidneys, even more. Why not try out what we’ve recommended: a healthy vegan diet, or in other words a Whole-Food Plant-Based (WFPB) diet? Diseases like diabetes type 2, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, etc are called “lifestyle” diseases for a reason: they’re caused because of our “lifestyle”. Change the lifestyle and the body will heal and have an immune system that will be more prepared to fight off any viral attack. And the best thing is that it’s not only easy to be vegan in India (in fact, it’s the best place in the world to choose to go vegan), but it’s also so easy to make the minor changes required to make it whole-plant-based because as Indians we’re already eating a vegan diet most of the time without realizing it.

What does “Whole Plant Food” mean? The word “whole” means “complete”. So, it’s nothing but eating fruits, vegetables, legumes, pulses, grains, nuts, and seeds in their natural form, i.e, without processing them in any way. Peeling, extracting, juicing, straining, polishing, refining, etc all remove some part of the “whole” and make it “incomplete”. Processing of any kind changes the natural form of the food and we end up eating foods that are not wholly nutritious or even harmful.
The question most of us will then ask is why do whole plant foods work like magic to reverse diseases? Well, the answer is simple: that’s the way nature works. Nature has put all that the human body (or other animals’ bodies) needs in each and every plant based produce. Once we get closer to nature and start eating ‘real’ food, we experience its magic and realize that we were meant to thrive on the plant food that is in abundance all around us. All we need to do is to go back to the basic instincts we would have followed as children and not get manipulated and brainwashed by social conditioning or shrewd marketing into eating foods that are going to harm us or make our bodies overwork and in turn make us sick.
Flavors and spices matter the most when it comes to Indian dishes. Our Indian Vegan Cookbook gives you the right essence and estimation of flavoring your dishes in the traditional ways that are used in homes all over India. However, despite having the best of all the flavors possible and available in India, any food always requires love as a key ingredient.
